Abstract

The occupation in the ring frame have risk of exposure to physical factors noise and dust exposure. It is needed to necessary control measures to protect workers from the effects of the ring frame such hazards, one of them is the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This research to aims learn the factors that associated with compliance of workers on the use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at PT. Lotus Indah Textile Industries Surabaya. This is an observational research and analysis of systems including analytical research with cross sectional approach. The subject in this the research are 55 workers at PT. Lotus Indah Textile Industries Surabaya. Data were extracted using questionnaires and interviews. Research variables are respondent characteristics (age, education level and working hours), predisposing factors(knowledge and attitudes of workers), enabling factor (availability of PPE), reinforcing factors (HSE encouragement and team works encouragement) and the obedience with using of PPE. The results showed that the majority of (60%) of respondents aged 31 to 40 years, 54.5% of respondents graduated from high school, 54.5% of respondents have a working hours more than 10 years. 70.9% of respondents have good knowledge, 76.3% of respondents have positive attitude. 83.6% of respondents said that the availability of PPE is in good condition and the quantity is sufficient. 96.4% of respondents said that there is encouragement HSE and 52.7% of respondents said that team works give support the obedience with using of PPE. There is a strong relationship between working hours with the obedience with using of PPE. There is a medium relationship between level of education, availability of PPE and team works encouragement with the obedience with using of PPE. There is a low relations hip between age, knowledge, attitudes and HSE encouragement with the obedience with using of PPE. Suggestion to the company to replace the damaged of PPE, providing of quantity addition of PPE, using improvements and adding the media of health promotion and improving the consult the use of PPE.
