Abstract

The prevalency of violence in dating increase lately and the impact is significance to the adolescence development, especially in mental health. Therefore, it is important to find out the effects of violence in dating especially on the impact of the emergence of depressive symptoms and for prevention of the worse psychological disorders. This research focusing to see relationship between the charactheristics of self disclosure for violence in and depressive sypmtoms experienced by adolescents. The population in this research consist of high school adolescent who had or in relationship and age range 15 to 19 years old. However, sample to be used in this undergraduate thesis are 69 adolescents which are 28 boys and 41 girls. As data collection instruments to be used for this research are questionnaires for the tendency of conducting for violence in dating was measured by Conflict in Adolescent Dating Relationships Inventory (CADRI; Wolfe, et al., 2001), while measuring instrument depressive symptoms using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI II). Statistical analysis used in this research were Spearman correlation with significance level α=0.05. The result showed that the significance value of violence in dating with depression was 0.756 (p <0.05), self disclosure with depression was 0,001 (p<0,05) and violence in dating with self disclosure was - 0,002 (p<0.05). The result of this reseacrch shows that violence in dating are significant to the depression, also self disclosure are significant to the depression, and violence in dating are significant to the self disclosure in adolescents in X High Schools in Surabaya.
