Abstract

Measles is a highly infectious disease, hence the need for measles control efforts. Measles control efforts in Indonesia has reached the stage of reduction and has set a target of measles elimination by 2014. Research was conducted to determine 1) description of measles in four public health centers in 2013 2) input from measles control efforts 3) the process of measles control efforts 4 ) output of measles control efforts 5) stages of measles control efforts according to the Ministry of Health 6) obstacles in carrying out measles control efforts. This study used a descriptive research design because it only describes the measles control efforts program in public health centers according to the Ministry of Health. Collecting data in this study conducted by means of interviews and observations of implementation measles control efforts in public health centers. Health center is the subject of research is the 2 public health centers with good measles control efforts and 2 public health centers with poor measles control efforts. Measles control efforts were carried out in public health centers are the first and second dose immunization, measles surveillance and outbreak investigation. Measles cases occur most commonly in women and age groups 1 to 5 years. Input from the measles control efforts are immunization budget, quality tools, and policies already fulfilled. Measles control efforts process has been running smoothly only a few indicators that have not been fulfilled. The output of the efforts to control measles in most public health centers have not fulfilled the indicator. Most of the public health centers do not have problems in the implementation of efforts to control measles. The conclusion of this study is only one health center that reached the stage of measles elimination. Suggestion of this study is to conduct regular training at least 2 times each year and perform the processing and presentation of data at the health center level.
