Abstract

The accidents at work are most practically caused by unsafe behavior. Behavior based safety is a tool to observe behavior in order to create safe behaviors and to prevent accidents. The aimed of this study is evaluating the implementation of behavior based safety (BBS) in PT. White Oil Nusantara. This study using the observational descriptive method with a crosssectional approach. The amount of the study samples from 24 respondents were taken with purposive sampling technique from 103 total population. The available data were analyzed with qualitative methods. The results showed that BBS program in PT. White Oil Nusantara not yet fully implemented. The labor attitude towards safe behavior has been well (87,5%). The management has a big role in completing the infrastructure that supported the BBS program, but the integration of the program into labor safety has not been carried on. Safety facilities and regulations that support the OHS in the company are also available. The result of the labor safety that has been observed are 41,7% categorized well, 41,7% categorized quite well and 16,6% are categorized unfavorable. The BBS program at PT. White Oil Nusantara has not been effective, because the criteria level of maturity and effectiveness of the program has not been aligned. The attitude of good labor, the availability of facilities and regulations that support the OHS in the company was contributing factors in safe behavior. But the management has not given a good role in the BBS program. Advised the company to improve the implementation process BBS and the company should align the level of maturity and effectiveness level criteria BBS program to a higher level to improve the quality of the implementation of the BBS in order to more easily achieve the goal.
