Abstract

The dangerous in welding can be classified into chemical hazards and physical hazards. Either of chemical hazards that are risky for the danger of welder is dust welding. Welding can be inhaled and dust enters into human’s respiratory system and can affect lung welder. The general objective of this research is to examine the relationship between total dust levels and pulmonary of PT X welding labor. The research type according to the presence of intervention was observational research. This research was used cross sectional design. The sample used the total population of the labor of welding PT X 20 labor people. Research done by observing the use from mask welding labor PT X, examining of pulmonary labor welding PT X by using dust levels meter, counting total work welding by using HVDS at 4 point location, and interviewing the labor welding with questionnaire. Total dust levels at 4 point fabrication workshop in PT X shows under TLV. Labor lung welding PT X state shows 20% of its welding labors, means that four of twenty labor weldings suffer mild pulmonary restriction disorder. The relationship between age, long exposure, the behavior of mask usage, nutritional status with lung have weak relationship. Also, the relationship between work time, smoking habit, and the degree of smoking composition with lung relations are related weakly. Those weak relationships on these variables are influenced by other factors. This research suggestions are to do a medical checkup and health status of PT.X welding labor regularly.
