Abstract

Food and nutrition are closely linked to efforts to improve human resources. One of efforts that have impact on improving the quality of human resources is effort to improve nutritional status of the community. In relation to caring of under 2 years old children in this case feeding practices and breastfeeding patterns there are still many practices which do not in line with the recommendation. This study was aimed to analyze the associated between feeding practices and nutritional status of under two years old children. This study was an observational analytic descriptive study which were conducted by using cross-sectional design. Interviews were conducted to 51 mothers or caregivers of who have children age 6-24 months old. Research subjects were selected by simple random sampling technique. Interviews were conducted by using structured questionnaire. Nutritional status were obtained from anthropometry data, by using indicator weight for age, weight for height and height for age. Weights were measured by using baby scale and digital scale, whereas heights were measured by using length board and microtoise. Result of this research showed that there was no significant association between nutritional status of under 2 years old children with all indicator of feeding and breastfeeding pattern (p > 0,05). This study concluded that there is no association between feeding practices (breastfeeding patterns and feeding practices) and nutritional status. Therefore it is necessary to conduct further research of children relationship between feeding practices and nutritional status of chidren.
