Abstract

T he main purpose of this research is to design Mustahiq Database as subsidiary report for Zakat fund distribution in Dompet Dhuafa Jawa Timur and to assist management in providing better Zakat fund distribution report. This research uses qualitative exploratory approach with case study in Dompet Dhuafa Jawa Timur. Mustahiq Database for Amil Zakat Institution is required as stated in one of Technical Requirements for Amil Zakat Institution in Minister of Religious Affairs Decree No.581 of 1999 of and in Amendment Draft of Zakat Management Law Article 12 Paragraph 2. Some experts in Zakat management also stated that Mustahiq Database has importance for monitoring and evaluating the management of Zakat fund in addition providing more transparent and accountable report of zakat fund distribution. According to the accounting cycle, Mustahiq Database has function as subsidiary ledger for zakat fund outflow. Dompet Dhuafa Jawa Timur has established some reporting systems related to the collection and distribution of zakat funds, among them are Accurate Accounting Software and Sistem Administrasi of Fund Raising (SANDRA). Hence, financial reports that generated from both systems are unable to provide information about Dompet Dhuafa Jawa Timur Mustahiq lists and accumulated of zakat fund distribution for each Mustahiq. Mustahiq Database design in this research uses database development theory of Romney and Microsoft Access as the Database Management System. The design phase resulting REA Diagram, Entity Relational Database, and Entity Relationship Diagram that used as guidance in database development by Microsoft Access. From REA Diagram, there are some Entities that should be made in Tables. The information in Mustahiq Database can generate better Zakat fund distribution report that can solve the problems associated with the absence of Mustahiq Database in Dompet Dhuafa Jawa Timur
