Abstract

This study intends to integrate the background of language attitude and language choice in cross cultural setting with the way people actually interact in everyday practice, like in the interrogation between police officers and the local Madurese. The writer takes this title because in order to avoid misunderstanding in the communication, police officer needs to determine what language that used in the interrogation. In this case, this study tries to identify the speech acts that used by police officers and victims or witnesses in cross cultural interrogation process. Besides, the writer attempts to obtain the language choice used by police officers in interrogation process. This investigation is conducted by means of qualitative approach by recording the interrogation process. The population of this study was police officers that assigned by their department in polsek Bangkalan Madura.
