Abstract
The novel For One More Day tells about a story of love between a son and his mother. This novel carries an issue about the importance of parents’ love in children’s character development. The writer finds an interesting problem that occurs in the main character of the novel, Charles ‘Chick’ Benetto, who experiences a problem that the writer considers as the absence of mother’s love. This problem occurs because of his father’s dominant influence upon him since he was a child and that causes Chick to feel the absence of his mother’s love. The writer is interested in finding how this problem occurs and affects him, and how he finally realizes his mother’s love in his manhood life. In analyzing the issues the writer uses a qualitative method by elaborating acts, events, and conflicts in the novel and applies an intrinsic approach as the main device in analyzing the problem and the theory of psychology as supporting theory.
