JOSHUA WAITZKIN`S PSYCHOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT IN STEVEN ZAILIAN`S INNOCENT MOVES.

Abstract
Parents should become the bond of themselves and children. Parents must be aware of their children’s moral and emotions regarding the situations inside and outside their house. It becomes the main interests for Fred Waitzkin to write the novel based on the true story of Fred and his son. Steven Zailian, the experienced director, finally lifts up this theme to wide screen in 1993. Since then, Innocent Moves became one of important movies that contain the relationship of parents and children.
In this thesis, the writer will use New Criticism theory as the main theory. The writer also uses personality background of the main character to support the analysis. The main focus of this thesis is to analyze the character through the dialogues and events that appear in this movie. The personality background is useful to support the character’s analysis because the acts that the main character do is fit in the elements in the personality.
The final result of the analysis shows the importance of parents in the children’s world. Father and mother involvements in children’s life can affect the attitude and emotions inside their minds.
