Abstract
There are very little information available regarding the condition of the general health of the blind in Indonesia, and poorly, without recording continues in a state of physical and mental health related. Meanwhile, the level of oral and dental hygiene students with visual impairment in YPAB Sukolilo, was tend to bad, in 3 (three) years (2012 to 2014). This is contrary to the rights of persons with blind disabilities. To assess individual beliefs improvement differences through empowering methods using Decayed Dental Study Model. Quasi experimental study involving 32 students in YPAB Sukolilo Surabaya, divided into control and treatment groups. The instruments used was questionnaire, decayed-dental study model, and regular dental study model. There are significant individual beliefs differences between groups (p<0,05), significant skills observed differences between groups (p<0,05), and also significant OHIS level scores differences between groups (p<0,05). There are differences in individual beliefs in different method to empower blind student to gain more clean dental status. In this study, empowering method using combination regular and decayed-dental study model is more effective to cope it.
