Abstract

Character bento is serving boxed meal that content arrange into animal form or cartoon character. Ill patients will experience less appetite problem so nutrients was not fulfilled properly. The hospital should provide a balance diet in attractive shape to increase their appetite. The aim of this study is to compare diet presentation character bento and hospital standart diet on the level of consumtion in 3 to 5 years- old hospitalized children in Petrokimia and Driyorejo Gresik. Design used in this study was quasy eksperiment non-equivalent control groups post-test only design. The population that used in this study was 3 to 5 years old hospitalized children in Petrokimia and Driyorejo Gresik. Total sample was 34 respondents and choosing sample by use of purposive sampling according to inclution criteria.The independen variable was the diet presentation character bento and the dependent variable was consumption level at pre-school age hospitalized children in Petrokimia and Driyorejo Gresik Hospital. Data were collected by using questionnaire and observation sheet. Data were analyzed by using Mann Whitney U Test trial with ≤ 0,05 signification. Results showed that consumption level in diet presentation as character bento was better than the standart hospital diet with P= 0.000. It can be concluded that character bento presentation have an affect on consumption level children 3 to 5 years-old. Further study should involve large respondens and improve better measurement tools to obtain more accurate results.
