Abstract
Economic status decline after HIV status detection was found among HIV mothers in Peer Support Group, Couple Community Surabaya. The economic impact after HIV status detection affected in various aspects. This study aimed to analyze the economic impact after HIV status detection among HIV mothers in Peer Support Group, Couple Community Surabaya. The design of this study was descriptive with 28 sample size of HIV mothers who were taken by purpossive sampling technique. Variable of this study were economic impact in job, income, household condition, and medical expenditure. Data were taken using questionnaire then analyzed with normal distribution data. The result showed that the economic impact in job (no support from employment (55.6%), loan fund (33%), and lost income (72,2%)), income aspect (decline in household income (below average minimum wage) (100%), and increased expenditure (42,9%)), household condition (increased expenditure (92,9%), increased food expenditure (85,7%) and medical expenditure (50%)), and medical expenditure (CD4 (100%) and ART (60,7%)). It can be concluded tahat the economic impact after HIV status detection are in job aspect (no support from employment, loan fund, and lost income), income aspect (decline in household income (below average minimum wage), and increased expenditure), household condition (increased expenditure, increased food expenditure and medical expenditure), and medical expenditure (CD4 and ART). Therefore, the results of this study suggest the peer support group center to arrange an economic empowerment among HIV mothers and the further research can develop a better research relate this study.
