Abstract
The discrimination experienced by people with HIV, especially housewife as victims of sexual partners of HIV transmission may cause interference to the activicy and needs of every day life. This is including cost of care and treatment needs for the rest of his life, especially the barriers to getting a job. This study aims to determine factors that influence discontinuation the participation of empowerment program in housewife with HIV grouped peer support Community Couple Surabaya. This research was descriptive analytic collerational study with cross-sectional approach. Sample in this research was 17 housewife with HIV who attending empowerment program in peer support groups Community Couple Surabaya. The independent variables in this study were self-motivation and family support, and the dependent variable in this study was participation empowerment program. Instrument for collecting data used questionnaire and it was analized using Results obtained by questionnaire and analyzed using Spearman’s Rho correlation with the degree of significance or significance level α <0.05. The results showed that self-motivation had a significant effect on participation of housewife with HIV in empowerment programs with p value = 0.021 and r = 0.555. Meanwhile, there was no relation between family support with an increasing of participation of housewife with p value = 0.83 and r = 0.107 in the peer support groups Community Couple Surabaya. The conclusion from this study is there is the influence of self-motivation with participation of the housewife with HIV in the participation empowerment program of peer support groups Couple Community Surabaya. Suggestions for further research could examine other factors that may affect the discontinuity of empowerment program of housewife with HIV.
