Abstract
Family social support is a key element to resolve the physical and psychological impact of cancer patients. Family social support was related by factors that couldn’t be explained. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relate cognitive, affective, the believe of myth idea, socioeconomic status, coverage of health services, and the role of health workers on the family social support to cancer patients in Puskesmas Balongsari Surabaya. The design of the study was descriptive analytical with cross-sectional approach. The population was family of cancer patients in Puskesmas Balongsari Surabaya Total sample was 21 respondents, taken according to inclusion criteria. The independent variables in this study: cognitive, affective, the believe of myth idea, socioeconomic status, coverage of health services, and the role of health workers. The dependent variable was family social support. Data were collected by using questionnaires for independent variable and dependent variable. Data were analyzed by using Multiple Regression Logistic with degree of significance p<0.05. Result showed that family social support was not relate by cognitive (p=0,494), affective (p=0,998), socioeconomic status (p=0,719) and need for achievement (p=0,998), the believe of myth idea and coverage of health services couldn’t be statistic analyzed. There is not factor that relate family social support to cancer patients. It is suggested to put the other variables in next study : tradition, social norm, health services support, and health peer group behavior.
