Abstract

This dissertation aims: 1) To analyze the understanding of Tuan Haji in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara Province about the implementation of hajj pilgrimage; 2) To analyze the amaliyah of Tuan Haji in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara Province in managing the assets; 3) To analyze the amaliyah of Tuan Haji in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara to welfare the family; 4) To analyze the contribution of Tuan Haji in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara Province to welfare the Environment. Outputs of this study indicate that: 1) The understanding of Tuan Haji informan upon the implementation of Hajj devotion (Pilgrimage to Mecca) varies. Some consider that the pilgrimage devotion is merely as the religious ritual form (just only to perform or to fulfill the 5- Pillars of Islamic Faith); some others consider it is the form of spending in the course of Allah SWT. In addition, some also consider it as the form of cultural influence of the ‘Sasak Community’ in Mataram City who consider the “pilgrimage” as the form of appreciation or respect, so that the social status inside the community become higher or better. 2) Amaliyah (good deed / behavior) of Tuan Haji informan in managing his properties depends on the understanding of Tuan Haji himself upon the “hajj or pilgrimage” itself. The higher understanding he has, the better amaliyah (good deeds/behavior) shown by Tuan Haji. In managing his household, Tuan Haji applies the Islamic economic principles. 3) For the Family Welfare, Tuan Haji is informed as having referred to the criteria of Islamic welfare, the so-called “maqosid syariah”, namely taking care of or maintaining the religion, soul/spirit, common sense / logic, offspring / descendant and also maintaining the properties constituting the ‘dharuriyah’ (basic) needs, then it is also informed that Tuan Haji has already achieved the state of being prosperous. 4) Tuan Haji informan in Mataram City has already given his contribution in abolishing the poverty, particularly by applying the concepts of cultural approach conducted by Tuan Haji in Mataram City.
