Abstract
Objective: To analyze the postoperative BCVA after SICS performed by the grade IV ophthalmology resident on senile cataract patient in Waluyo Jati Hospital and factors affecting. Methods: The parameters to estimate SICS‟ results performed by the ophthalmology resident may be obtained from preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative examination. Preoperative parameters include age, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cataracts density, retinometri results, preoperative BCVA. Intraoperative parameters were operating frequency, OSCAR value, intraoperative complications, and duration. Postoperative parameter was complications in the anterior segment. The main outcome were postoperative BCVA and influence of age, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cataracts density, retinometry results, preoperative BCVA, operating frequency, OSCAR value, intraoperative complications, duration, complications in the anterior segment on postoperative BCVA. Result: The mean day-one postoperative BCVA was (logMAR) 1,57 ± 0,72. The mean one-month postoperative BCVA was (logMAR) 0,65 ± 0,38. Variables that influence the day-one postoperative BCVA were the cataracts density, preoperative BCVA, OSCAR value, intraoperative complications and duration of surgery. Variables influencing the one-month postoperative BCVA were diabetes mellitus, cataracts density, preoperative BCVA, OSCAR value, intraoperative complications and duration of surgery. Conclusions: Cataracts density, preoperative BCVA, OSCAR value, intraoperative complications and duration of surgery influenced the day-one postoperative BCVA. Diabetes mellitus, cataracts density, preoperative BCVA, OSCAR value, intraoperative complications and duration of surgery influenced the one-month postoperative BCVA.
