Abstract
The measles is a major cause of child mortality, yet it is one of the diseases that can be prevented by immunization. In 2014, the occurrence of measles reached 199 cases in Pasuruan. The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of measles immunization coverage and quality of measles vaccine on the occurrence of measles at village level in Pasuruan. This study is an analytic observational with case-control approach. The samples of this study are taken from 30 villages which had measles cases and 30 villages which did not have measles cases in 2014. The data is analyzed using linier regression and logistic regression. The result of the study confirms that knowledge (p = 0.030), motivation (p = 0.018), and the availability of books infant cohort (p = 0.021) effect on measles immunization coverage; then the training (p = 0.002), knowledge (p = 0.000), and the availability of vaccine (p = 0.022) effect on the quality of measles vaccine; and the quality of measles vaccine (p = 0.008) effect on the incidence of measles. The conclusion of this study shows that there are influences of training, knowledge, and availability of the vaccine on the quality of the measles vaccine, and there is also influence of the quality of measles vaccine on the incidence of measles. Suggestions that can be drawn from the results of this study are health workers should have better knowledge about the measles immunization coverage and the quality of measles vaccine. Moreover, it is necessary to provide vaccine carrier and cool small pack which can be easily carried by health workers.
