Abstract
Scabies is a highly contagious parasitic skin infestation. This disease is transmitted from human to human, and close physical contact is necessary for transmission. Beside all of it, indirect contact with infected towels, bedclothes and under garments only it these have been contaminated by infested persons (Saleha Sungkar, 1997; Casey, 1981). Thus scabies tends to spread easily throughout families with over crowded and also a boarding but with extremely low sanitation. A Moslem boarding but is one of the institutional particularly which is providing a boarding but during the education programs. With this to be attention is sanitation of a Moslem boarding but (pondok pesantren). This research is studies about sanitation of the boarding but and a healthy behavior of santri the influence with incidence of scabies. For those is had been taken samples over a Moslem boarding but (pondok pesantren), with the multi stage random sampling gets the 288 santri spread at 6 pondok pesantren. Pondok pesantren sanitation variables those very tight with the scabies incidence risk such as the source clean-water and sanitation at room (amongst; density of room, roomy of air ventilation, humidity of room, and room system). And the other variable which can influenced the scabies incidence is healthy behavior of santri, length of suitable, and also ages. On the observation at pondok pesantren, incidence rate is 54.9% and prevalence rate is 66.7%. With Chi-square test and probability value analysis on simple logistic regression or multi logistic regression, it is proved that pondok pesantren sanitation, healthy behavior of santri, and length of suitable were significant correlations with the scabies incidence at pondok pesantren. Variables in the equation of probability (p) each variables < 0.05 and odds-ratio (OR) each variables > 1.00 Probability of the source clean water (p = 0.027 and odds ratio = 1.866), density of room (p = 0.000 and odds ratio =13.873), roomy of air ventilation (p = 0.000 and odds ratio = 2.754), humidity of room (p = 0.002 and odds ratio = 2.188), healthy behavior of same (p = 0.000 and odds ratio = 3.318) and length of suitable (p = 0.000 and odds ratio = 3.307). Variables in the equation with multiple logistic regression analysis, there were significant correlation on density of room, length of suitable, and healthy behavior of santri with the scabies incidence at pondok pesantren To minimize transmission or preventive measures of scabies in pondok pesantren, something that need to be attention are especially to health promotion with in promote good personal hygiene or educate the public about the mode of spread, and isolate the cases until appropriate treatment has commenced, and also society participation.
