Abstract
There is a local culture in Mojokerto regency and in other regions that being a head of village is such a prestige and symbol of social status in the community. By the implementation of local autonomy, that phenomenon has changed. Head of village position is not a symbol of community status anymore, it is a field to make money. There is a change in head of village paradigm as a results show. Previously, respecting and admission from his people are the crucial rewards to support his performance. Nevertheless, an extrinsic reward such as financial income recently has been a crucial reward to support his performance. Those changes are reasonable referring to a theory in human resources management that says compensation is a crucial part to be concerned in order to increase performance of organization instead of the change is a kind of social changing that occurred naturally.
