Abstract
The main objective of the study is to know the relationship between mother-teenager communication and teenagers' knowledge on sex and pregnancy. The study located in Jombang sub-district in Jombang, East Java. The respondents included 63 teenagers of 12-19 years old and their mothers. A cross-sectional analysis was used to prove the hypotheses. The result shows that teenagers' knowledge does not associate with the fact of whether or not mothers deliver a message to their teenage offsprings. Method, frequency and duration of the message delivery do not have relationship with teenagers knowledge, except with their understanding on menstruation. Time for communication also correlates with the teenagers' knowledge on menstruation, but it does not associate with the respondents'knowledge on maleifemale reproductive organs, puberty, wet dreaming, healthy sexual relationship, and pregnancy. The study could not prove the correlation between place and medium of communication and the teenagers' knowledge on sex and pregnancy.
