Abstract
Program to improve family income (Ul aha Pe2ingkatcm Pendapaam Keluarga ,SejcdNera -UN IKS) is an approach to develop fi mily resources as well as their economic status, particularly for those considered as pre-prosperous family (keluarga pra selahlera) and prosperous family stage I phase (keluargo celahlera 1). This program is also implemented in Cerme District, GreSlk Regency. 'those who joined the UPPKS group choose some productive efforts, such as producing snacks, doormats, and poultry. However, based on the factual conditions, the program is not showing a successful result, for 47'/o of the member of UPPKS group are still considered as family whose cconomic status are low or even poor. 'this research was conducted to investigate the relationships tied to economic status of the member of the UPPKS group in CCrme District, Gresik. Some important scientific information could be obtained from the research concerning the result of the training program, health promotion program and loans provided by UPPKS in Cerme District. -This research was an observational research, covering population of about 152 people who were members of the UPPKS group in Cenne District. Respondents from the population were obtained based on the following criteria: (a) member of pre-prosperous family group or prosperous family stage I phase_ (b) having a productive effort, and (c) must be a potential group to be developed. The sample of this research consisted of 109 respondents. Based on analysis using A4omenl Product Correlation 7'eel, it was proven that the educational level had a particular relation toward the economic status of the member of UPPKS group (p — 0.026), indicating that the higher the respondents' level of education was, the higher the economic status would be. Thus, the proposed hypothesis in this research was proven. Further result of Moment Product Correlation Analysis revealed that skill training had no significant relations toward economic status (p 0.089). It indicated that economic status of respondents with and without skill training was not different. However, health and credit variables did have a significant relation toward economic status.
