Abstract

Hepatitis B is an inflammatory disease of the liver caused by Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) can be transmitted from an infected partner HBV positive. The prevalence in Indonesia is about 5% -17%. To analyze the risk factors associated with transmission of Hepatitis B in the couple of HBsAg positive patient in the city of Mataram. The reseach was an observational study using cross-sectional design, implemented in the city of Mataram by the number of samples as many as 80 people. The results showed that there were 17 of the 80 respondents (21.3%) who were infected by HBV. There were eight variables that were the factors on the risk of transmission of hepatitis B. However there were only six variables associated with HBV infection in the couples. The six of variables were nutritional status, frequency of sexual intercourse, duration of the suffered couple, and age levels and the shared usage of personal tools, and unsafe sexual intercourse. Based on multivariate analysis using logistic binary regression and forward stepwise method the results showed that there were only three variables that were dominant factor associated with HBV transmission in the couple. The dominant risk factors associated with transmission of Hepatitis B in the couple are the frequency of sexual intercourse and nutrisional status and duration of the suffered couple . To conduct screening in high-risk areas of HBV, a free service for check of HBsAg in Health Center.
