Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a health issue in Indonesia and other developing countries. In Probolinggo in 2011, there were several areas where the suspect case finding was still below the target, so one of the challenges of TB program was to increase the scope of suspect discovery and positive BTA for village. Midwives as health workers have an important and strategic role, distributed quite well compared with other health workers so midwives have a good potentiae in Pulmonal TB suspects case finding. The general purpose was to analyze the increase of the role of midwife in pulmonal TB suspects case finding. The type of the study was quasi experiment with pretest-posttest Control Group Design. 60 midwives were down with simple random sampling as a sampling technique. The study result showed an increase in the role of midwife for pulmonal TB suspects case finding, with Mann-whitney test result U (p= 0.000 >α 0.05). There were differences in knowledge, attitude and motivation in midwives with IEC intervention and without IEC intervention. Mann-Whitney test result was U ( p=0.000 >α 0.05), independent sample test, Attitude (p= 0.00 <α 0.05) and Motivation (p= 0.029 <α 0.05).There was an increase in the role of midwife for case finding pulmonal TB suspects, so a partnership between Midwives, Primare Health Center and Health office as the policy maker was expected by involving midwives in case finding pulmonal TB suspects.
