Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine the effect of sodium nitrite (NaNO2) to absorbtif cell count, ileum's villi count and long of ileum's villi . This study was true experimental laboratories with post test only control group design. Thirty male rats (rattus norvegicus) of Wistar strain divided into five groups : the control group of fourteen days (K1), and the treatment group also of fourteen days ( P1, P2,P3,P4). Treatment was given a sodium nirite (NaNO2) with 0,5 mg (P1), 1 mg (P2), 1,5 mg (P3) and 2 mg (P4). After treatment the animals was sacrified with decapitation method and the ileum was removed. Ileum was processes to histologycal preparation with haematoxylin eosin staining. The absorbtif cell count was measured on light microscope with 400x , ileum's villi count with 40x and long of ileum's villi with 100x magnification. The data were analized with one way ANOVA ( = 0,05). The result shown that the treatment for fourteen days caused decreased absorbtif cell count and long of ileum's villi. The absorbtif cell count and long of ileum's villi are significant difference with control group and among treatment groups , but ileum's villi count no significant difference with control group and among treatment groups. The conclusion of this study was the doses 0,5 mg, 1 mg, 1,5 mg, 2 mg of sodium nitrite (NaNO2) could decreased absorbtif cell count and long of ileum's villi.
