Abstract

This research is to identify colonization of Streptococcus fJ hemolyticus group B of amnion membrane from post partum mothers who have premature rupture ofmembrane (PROM) and haven't it, at birth room in Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya at June and July 2007. Design of this research used Discriptive observationally, to examine 23 amnion membranes from premature rupture ofmembrane (PROM) and 23 amnion membranes that non premature rupture of membrane (PROM). The specimen is taken from amnion membranes early after third fase of labour. Aseptically cutting the amnion membranes, size around 1 x 1 cm, as soon as the specimen put in the sterile container with 5 ml normal saline. The specimen exmined using standard method in Microbiology Laboratory, Medical Faculty, Airlangga University. The results of the research showed that amnion membrane from post partum mothers with premature rupture of membrane (PROM) did not detect colonization of the Streptococcus fJ hemolyticus group B, and non premature rupture of membrane (PROM) did not detect colonization of the Streptococcus fJ hemo~vticus group A (17,5 %) and Staphylococcus aureus (17,5 %).
