Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship between family care pattern with nutrition status and the growth of under 5 years old baby in Junrejo village, district area of Junrejo , Batu city. The type of this research is observational analytic with Cross Sectional design. This research was done on April - July 2009. The sample of this research is mother and under 5 years old baby available in Posyandu (combined services for baby of under 5 years old). The analysis and input data is done by using quantitative and qualitative, and for testing hypothesis, it is done by using analysis regression linier 2 predictor. The result of the research showed that a great number of respondent are housewives with the education level of elementary and junior high school with the age of 20-29 years old. Most of the respondent families are nuclear family with the average number of 5 people in a family. The diseases often suffered by the children are cough followed by fever. The main nursemaid from under 5 years old baby is mother having activity of dominant care for the intellectual growth and language. Customs dealing with the baby is still done by society routinely in that village, such as brokohan, sepasar, telonan and mitoni. The nutrition care pattern respondent is as big as (62,86%) having enough category with the score 50-95,45 with the average 70,11. And the health care pattern from the respondent is (68,57) having good category with the score 75-96,15 having the average 89,45. Under 5 years old baby nutrition status (TB/U) is (71%) normal status with average Z-Score -1,80. The level of under 5 years old baby growth respondent (65,71%) included in suitable category. The level of nutrition knowledge and health from respondent is (51,43%) less than normal with the average 61. Most of (90,99%) respondents have positive attitude and agree with the things dealing with child care pattern. From the counting of statistic, it is known that care pattern has significant influence to nutrition status, however it doesn’t significantly influence to the level of under 5 years baby growth. Conclusion: nutrition status of under 5 years old baby is influenced by nutrition care pattern and health care pattern. While the growth level of under 5 years old baby is not influenced by nutrition and health care pattern. But there is possibility that the better the nutrition and health care pattern is, the better the level growth of under 5 years old baby is.
