Abstract

Watching TV effect issue especially it negative effect had been a national issue. Various elements of public and students in Indonesia had performed various actions for campaign of healthy watching TV habit for Indonesian family. Parent’s role had been increasingly concerned since many abuse cases by children occurred to mimic what they seen on TV. This research aimed to identify relationship between economy social status and mother awareness level in educating their children about how to watch TV in healthy manner. The main purpose of this research was to identify whether relationship between economy social status and mother awareness level in educating children about how to watch TV in healthy manner was exist or not. Research type used was quantitative by survey model. The population was household women in Perak Barat village who had sons and daughters at age 5 to 12 years old. From sample calculation it was found that number of minimum sample that could be used was 97 respondents. This research collected 100 household women as respondents. Validity test was performed by using Pearson Product Moment correlation technique. Reliability from the measurement instrument was tested using Cronbach Alpha approach. Research result found that there is relationship between economy social status and mother awareness level in educating children to watch TV by p<α value, or equal to 0031. Economy social status level in the research was measured by 3 indictors: respondent education, respondent income, and husband income.
