Abstract
Comodification of Local Wisdom (Case Study of Mane’e Traditional Fishing Ceremony on Society in Indonesia- Filipina Border) is aimed to answer two main problems which are; first “what kinds of local wisdom do the society in Indonesia-Filipina border have that has been comodificated ? Second “how’s the shifting meanings process local wisdom the interest of developing the local tourism in Talaud archipelago regency? The purpose of this research is founding and identifying local wisdom as one of society’s social capital in Nanusa archipelago for equalizing Indonesian republic sovereignty and comodification process of local wisdom after the ecotourism package’s penetration. This research using ethnography method to colllect the data. Then the data collection is analized and interpreted qualitatively based on symbolic interactionism theory. Analysis and further interpreted as the commodification of local wisdom in the encounter with economic, social and symbolic that has been changed and influenced by “market” (ecotourism). The research showed that mane’e revealed a number of cultural, religious and social value that used by border’s society as local wisdom that still exist. Border society’s Nanusa archipelago social-cultural values, in this case eha is as unwritten law product in order to care for society’s social order. Procession of mane’e ceremony as a thank to God was sold by elites as tourism package. Society that supported the culture welcomed that promotion as a form of identity seeking of maritim culture.
