Abstract

Heavy metal (Pb, Cd, and Hg) concentration in tropical halfbeaks fish (Hyporhamphus affinis) were determined during Mei until June 2010 from 5 locations of East Java Coast (Tuban, Lamongan, Sidoarjo, Pasuruan and Banyuwangi). The elements of Cd, Hg, and Pb were assayed using High Dispersion ICP-ES. The results were given as mg/kg dry weight. The range found for Pb was 0,000003 until 0,541 mg/kg, the range for Hg was 0,22 until 0,52 mg/kg and for Cd was 0,00003 until 0,2012 mg/kg. The order of Pb accumulation was from Banyuwangi, Tuban, Pasuruan, Lamongan, Sidoarjo, while that for Hg was from Sidoarjo, Pasuruan, Banyuwangi, Lamongan, Tuban and Cd was from Sidoarjo, Pasuruan, Tuban, Lamongan, Banyuwangi. The results showed that there were correlation between metal accumulation and fish weight, but not significant. The concentration of Pb, Cd, and Hg from Tuban, Lamongan, Siodarjo, Pasuruan, and Banyuwangi were below acceptable limits for human consumption. The estimated weekly intakes of Cd, Pb and Hg for 60 kg adult was consuming 576,92 g of fish per week.
