Abstract

Objectives : The aim of this study was to examine the characteristics of demographic and premorbid personality disorder of the brain injury patients caused by traffic accident Dr.Sutomo hospital in 2012. Methods : This study was a descriptive study using survey method. Data were gathered from Dr.Sutomo hospital patients who suffered brain injury in 2012 and meets the criteria for the study. We obtained 81 patients as sample. The patients were asked to fill the questionnaire and SCL-90, The results were then processed and used as the data research. Results : Of the 81 patients, there were 68 patients (83,95%) found without any personality disorder and only 13 patients with personality disorder, young adults had the highest number with 58,02%, men were more numerous than women with the comparison 75,3% and 24,7%, and the private employees had higher numbers compared with other professions are with the percentage 50,6%. Conclusions : These results suggest that generally there was human role in the increase risk of traffic accident including personality disorder, factor of age, gender and occupation beside the other factor influences such as environment and vehicle factor. It is clarified through statistical data and previous researches.
