Abstract

The purpose of was altering people's behavior in their way to prevent malaria, reducing malaria incidence parasite rate by medical officer with supported by the "key person". This was a quasi experiment with three experiment groups. First group was the group which the key person got the training how to prevent and eliminate malaria and had support from medical officer. Second group was the group which the key person got the training but didn't got medical officer support. Third group was the key person did not get training and medical officer support. This study involved 27 key person and 164 respondent. The result showed that the medical officer support can change people's knowledge, attitude, and practice in preventing and eradicating malaria. Training method only able to change peoples knowledge's and attitude's but not followed by practical changes. In the area which the key person did not get intervention the knowledge,attitude nor practical did not changed. Beside that, the parasite rate decrease significantly in area which groups got intervention. On the other hand in area which the key person didn't get training or support, parasite decrease didn't occur. It is concluded, that the support of medical officers to the key is able to alter the people's knowledge and behavior in the way to prevent and eradicate malaria beside that, malaria parasite rate decrease significantly. It is suggested that method of giving support to the key person, performed by medical officer will be able to develop to other healthy program or to other area, particulary those similar social and culture area.
