Abstract
Introduction:Adolescence is a transition between childhood and adulthood, where growth occurs, secondary sexual characteristics appear, fertility, psychological and cognitive changes occurs (Soetjiningsih, 2007). Factors that influence pre-marital sex in teenagers, among others are lack of information and knowledge concerning to sexuality (Setiawan & Nurhidayah, 2008). Sexual education is one way to reduce the negative impacts and to prevent unexpected events such as sexual harassment, premarital sex, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and to reduce the number of abortions due to unwanted pregnancy (Sarwono, 2010). Purpose: this study was to determine the influence of sex education on knowledge and attitude of teenagers concerning to sexuality in Junior High Schools in North Raman District, East Lampung Regency. Material and Method: Sexual education was provided two times. Pre-test and post- test test was carried out to measure knowledge and attitudes. This study applied Quasi Experimental study design and pre- test post- test control group design. Sampling was done using simple random sampling technique. Questionnaire was used for data collection and analysis was carried out using independent t test. Result : The results indicated that there was significant differences in knowledge and attitudes concerning to sexuality in teenagers with 0.00 <0.05. Therefore, it can be inferred that there was influence of sexual education to the increase in knowledge and attitudes concerning to sexuality for teenagers in state junior high schools in North Raman district, East Lampung Regency.
