Abstract

The focus of this research study describes the social construction of women pastors in local churches patterned in a review feminism. The involvement of women in the church has been resistance from the side of culture and religion. But East Java Christian Church as a church by the local shades give women decision-makers place as a leader in the church. The research problems are looking at how the social construction of women among the pastors of local churches patterned and whether there is marginalization of women pastors in local churches patterned. To explain this issue used framework of social construction theory Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann. The method used is qualitative method with phenomenological approach. The technique used to dig up and process information is the interview. To determine informant used snowball technique. The data collected is then analyzed using a framework of social construction theory, namely externalization, objectivation and internalization, and the theory of cultural feminism. These results indicate that the social reality where women priests among churches patterned externalized in everyday life, then legitimized (objectivation) into churchgoers and pulled back to within each individual (internalization). In the context of marginalization found any number of indicators Subordination, stereotypes and double acting roles on women priests by the local character of the church congregation and was also influenced by patriarchal culture.
