Abstract

Translation: Phillips Curve describes the characteristics of the relationship between inflation and unemployment. In 1958, A. W. Phillips published a study about the relationship between the rate of unemployment and the rate of money wages in the United Kingdom in the periode of 1861-1957, which was analyze the relationship of unemployment and the rate of money wages. It concludes that there are a nature of negative (oppositional ) relationship between the rate of money wages and the rate of unemployment. When unemployment is high, the precentage of inflation rate is low. And when unemployment rate is low, the precentage of inflation rate is high. As the research done in 1958 by A. W. Phillips in United Kingdom, this study aim to discuss in the periode of 1980 — 2005 Phillips curve did really happen in Indonesia. Based on the result of the calculation and the hypothetical test, it could be seen that Phillips curve does not happen in Indonesia. It means that there is no trade off between inflation and unemployment.
