Abstract

The industrial revolution that occurred in the late 18th century and has changed the world economy from agriculture to industry gives great positive and negative impacts on life. One of the negative effects of the industrial revolution is the environmental damage caused by industrial waste that is not properly managed. In Indonesia, the concern over environmental issues had been addressed by the relevant agencies, namely the Ministry of Population and Environment to issue a policy in the form of Performance Rating Program in Environmental Management (PROPER). Based on that, the aims of this research is to assess the association between PROPER and bond pricing in the Indonesia bond market. The research uses sample of go public companies in Indonesia Stock Exchange and evaluated by PROPER period of 2008 to 2011 and analyzed using regression analysis. The research concludes that PROPER has a significant negative effect on the bond yield spread. Another conclusion is the control variable time to maturity and ROA also has a negative effect, while the other control variables firm size, and a loss rate has a positive influence on the bond yield spread.
