Abstract

This research is conducted in PT "X" Mojokerto, a plastic manufacturing company especially at production and recycle division. The main problem faced by this company is the increasing amount of waste in form of defect product as the result of ineffectiveness of production and waste management system such as poor archiving problems and lacking of quality control. This research is aimed to propose design of Decision Support System (DSS) using relational DBMS to help recycle person making decision of managing waste and to give improvement in production and waste management system in order to minimize waste. Qualitative research with exploratory case study is used in this research to determine the research design and because this method matches with the condition of PT “X” Mojokerto since DSS has not implemented yet in the company. The result of this research are the designed DSS using relational DBMS which aimed to improve the accuracy and timeliness of making decision regarding waste management and improvement of production and waste management system so that failure of production that leads to increasing amount of waste could be minimized. The output of the proposed DSS program and production and waste management system’s improvement are decision alternatives and waste management report.
