Abstract

This research was aimed to find out the incidence of canine pyometra based on age and breed at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Universitas Airlangga in the period 2011 to 2014. The research was carried out using the survey method in the form of secondary data retrieval with the variables canine age, breed, and pyometra cases in each year. The data obtained were evaluating by the classification tree analysis and descriptive with SPSS version 20.0 for Windows program. A total of 164 cases of canine pyometra is found from 1913 bitches at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital over the study period. The results of the analysis showed that the incidence of canine pyometra at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Universitas Airlangga was 9.1 per cent. There were variations in age and breed at presentation. The highest incidence within age was in the range above 8 years old amounting to 19.6 per cent and the lowest incidence within age in range under 4 years old amounting to 3.7 per cent. The incidence within breed, the highest canine pyometra cases in giant breed category was 16.2 per cent. While the lowest canine pyometra cases in small breed category was 8.2 per cent.
