Abstract

The role of parents is the behavior of two persons namely the father and mother in cooperation on responsibility for their offspring as role models for their children including moral and spiritual attitudes and emotionally independent child (Zizilia, 2013). The role of parents in media access is indicated by the attitude of parents through the regulations given by parents to monitor media used by adolescent to obtain sexual information. Adolesscent sexual behavior is a communication media that occurs between boy and girl as a manifestation of sexual drive. One of the factors that influence adolescent sexual behavior is the role of parents. Reproductive health information that is not delivered by parents will lead adolescent to seek accessible and reachable information from other source. Question of this study was the increase of adolescent free sexual behavior problem and many adolescent who have been dating within school environment. The aim of this study was to determine the association of the parents' role on media access on adolescent sexual behavior in SMAN 11 Surabaya. This study used analytic cross sectional design. The population was the entire grade XI student at SMAN 11 Surabaya as many as 344 students. Samples enrolled was of 78 students. The sampling technique used was propotional stratified random sampling. Independent variable in this study was the role of parents in media access, while the dependent variable was adolescent sexual behavior. Instrument used was questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Spearman rank correlation test. Results of this study showed that 35 samples got enough parents role on media access, 48.6% with mild sexual behavior, 42.9% with moderate sexual behaviour, and 8.6% with severe sexual behaviour. Statistical analysis using SPSS 16 with  = 0.05 resultied in p value = 0.258. Since the p value>  mean H 0 accepted, which means there is no association between parents role on media access on adolescent sexual behavior.
