Abstract

Background: Teens is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood and experience an identity crisis that may lead to problems such as illicit sex that can result in unwanted pregnancies in young women. A maintained unwanted pregnancy can put young women into single parent’s position. This can occur when their partner not take their responsibility for the pregnancy. Role as a single parent as a result of unwanted pregnancies in teenagers are considerably tough that risk for experiencing depression. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the association of the single parent adolancent as a result of unwanted pregnancy (KTD) on the level of depression. Methode: This research was conducted by analytical cross sectional method, involving 100 adolescents’ respondents who experience unwanted pregnancy and 62 respondents with single parent status and not a single parent as many as 38 respondents. The instrument used was Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) questionnaire. Result: Statistical analysis used was Fisher Ecxact's test with significant result <0.000 (p <0.0001) which mean single parent as a result of unwanted pregnancies associated with the level of depression in adolescents.
