Abstract

VALIDATION OF THREE-WAVELENGHT UV-Vis SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF PREDNISONE TABLET CONTAINING COLOURING AGENTS IKA RIZKI HELWANDI The determination of prednisone in tablet is very important to ensure the safety and achieve therapeutic effects of prednisone. However, colouring agents in formulation can frequently affect the drug analysis by background interfering. Therefore, three-wavelenghtUV-Vis spectrophotometric method was performed to eliminate backgorund interference caused by colouring agents. The aim of this research was to validatethree-wavelenght UV-Vis spectrophotometric method for determination of prednisone tablet containing colouring agents. Selected wavelenght were 234 nm, 238 nm and 242 nm. Calibration graph was linier on the range 5.0-17.0 ppm of prednisone with r value was 0.9997, Vxo was 1.18% and Xp was 0.81 ppm. The percentage recovery of prednison was 99.45%. Coefficient variation of repeatability and intermediate precision were 0.76% and 1.04%.
