Abstract

After the internship, the writer knows that it is not easy to be a teacher. English become one of the important subjects that has to be taught to the student, but also become one of the hardest subject that they acquire during the class. It is because English is not Indonesian first language, but English itself become a foreign language in Indonesia. Despite the difficulty to learn a new language, the writer believe that with the high motivation of student and the behavior using English while in the class, it will improve their English skill. During his internship, the writer found that all of the subject that he got from his class and lectures were useful. He could apply all of the skills he learnt in the college as an English Diploma student. The writer got a lot of experiences to be a teacher during his internship. He never had an experience to become a teacher before, so he found that this internship is quite interesting and challenging. The writer learned that a teacher does not only have a responsibility to attend the class and give the student the task, but also has to make sure that the students can absorb all of the materials and really understand it. A teacher also has to be able to arrange the class into a good situation so the student will enjoy and feel comfortable to learn during class. While on his internship in the SMP Islam Al – Azhar Kelapa Gading Surabaya, the writer had to face many different personalities of his student. In his class, most of the students are very talkative and very noisy. But, the students are very active to follow the class. In this case, the writer learned how to communicate with them and adapt with them. The internship also taught the writer another new lesson. In becoming a teacher, the writer had to learn how to manage the time right so that all of the material can be delivered, improving his English and interpersonal skill while in the class and meet with the student. The writer learned how to be a discipline person, come on time in the school, speak politely and be able to create a good atmosphere with the student and other teacher. SMP Islam Al – Azhar Kelapa Gading Surabaya did a good job as a place where the writer and his partner did their internship. The school really welcome us well from the first until the last the day. The teacher and the other people around the school are very nice. The school has given a good experience to the writer and it can be suggested as one of the internship place for next year. With the experience that he got from the internship, the writer hope that it can be useful and as his guidance to become a good teacher someday in the future. I recommend SMP Islam Al – Azhar Kelapa Gading Surabaya as one of the places to do the internship for my junior because the school itself has a good management and facility so that will improve the learning process. The people in SMP Islam AL – Azhar Kelapa Gading Surabaya are very nice too. All of the teacher are very welcome to the internship student who wants to study a lot of things about being a teacher
