Abstract

English is an international language which most of people around the world use. English also acts as a Lingua Franca (ELF) that is used to communicate with everybody who does not share the same language or does not use English as either first or second language. Since English plays some important roles above, bilingual education is beginning to emerge. Especially in Indonesia, bilingual education is mostly handled by international schools. Being a teacher at SDI Al-Azhar 35 Surabaya does not only mean that she has to teach the students, but also she has to be able to educate them how to be a nice person. Besides those jobs, some of the teacher at SDI Al-Azhar 35 is being a homeroom teacher. During her internship, the writer had many new experiences in teaching, assisting the class, and handling or supervising the students. She knows how to face the student attitude and how to solve problems the students made. As a homeroom teacher assistant the writer helps the homeroom teacher with some tasks including supervising the students in every activity. The internship at SDI Al-Azhar 35 Surabaya was challenging. The writer got a chance to teach science Cambridge subject, while she was majoring in English language. However, that did not make the writer afraid if she could not do properly. It has challenged her and she has proven that she could improve her skills in English subject and other subjects that used English language. She recommends for the future intern to do their internship at SDI Al-Azhar 35.
