Abstract
Timor Tengah Selatan regency is endemic malaria. The proportion of malaria in pregnant women in year 2011-2015 relatively fluctuated with the highest was in 2015 at 4.5% (73 cases) and the lowest was 2.73% (100 cases) in 2014. Malaria infection in pregnancy was detrimental to the mother and fetus because it can increase morbidity and mortality of both mother and fetus. Data on maternal deaths in TTS regency in 2014 showed that maternal mortality caused by malaria was on third place. The aim of research was to analyze and formulate a model of risk factors of malaria in pregnant women in TTS regency. The study was conducted using a case-control study design. The sampling technique used multy stage sampling with a sample of 45 cases and 45 controls. Analysis data used bivariate and multivariate analysis. The results showed that the proportion of. falciparum plasmodium was the highest (84%). While the result of multivariable analysis showed that individual factor:: the type of work OR = 5.675 (95% CI: 1.484 to 21.709), p = 0.011, behavioral factor: the use of mosquito nets OR = 10.750 (95% CI: 3.424 to 33.751), p = 0.000 and environmental factor: distance of breeding places OR = 5.025 (95% CI: 1.006 to 25.094), p = 0.000 risk factors simultaneously influencing the incidence of malaria in pregnant women in TTS regency. To overcome that was improve the quality of ANC, equity, monitoring of using insecticide-treated nets. Identify local potentials that can be used as a mosquito repellent media and utilize mosquito repellent plants, such as zodia, basil and geranium, suren, lavender, lemongrass and neem. Modification of larval habitat, stocking predators or larvaciding and maximize the efforts to promote prevention of malaria on pregnant women and families.
