Abstract

Introduction: Menarche is physiologic changes that happen to women. Lack of knowledge and attitude will bring impact to their behavior in facing menarche. This research aims to identify and analyze the knowledge and attitude of students in Dinoyo 2 Elementary School Malang about menarche by comparing the prior and post conditions of monopoly game intervention. Method: This research design was quasy experiment. The samples were taken from 40 female students of Dinoyo 2 State Elementary School Malang who have no experience menarche. The sampling process was conducted in December 2015. The taken-samples were based on inclusive criteria. It used purposive sampling method. The independent variable was monopoly game. The dependent variable was the knowledge and attitude of students in Dinoyo 2 State Elementary School Malang about menarche. The data were collected by using questionnaire, and analyzed by using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney U-Test with significancy number ≤0.05. Result: There was an impact of monopoly game to students' knowledge about menarche (p=0.000) and to students' attitude about menarche (p=0.000). Meanwhile, there was significant differences of knowledge (p=0.000) and attitude (p=0.05) between control group and treatment group after being given the monopoly game. In conclusion, monopoly game is helpful to increase the students' knowledge and attitude about menarche for there were some differences between control group and treatment group after the intervention.
