Abstract

Introduction. ASI (Breastfed Mother) is a first food, main and the best for baby, which has natural quality. But the lack of understanding mother, family, and community results in a program of exclusive breastfeeding does not run optimally. Data of the use of formula at Wiyung Sejahtera Hospital Surabaya in June there were 47 infants used formula milk from 82 live births or 57%, in July, there were 47 infants used formula milk from 71 live births or 67%, and in August there were 40 infants used a formula of 60 live births or 67%. This study aimed to analysis the motivation of mother in giving breastmilk before and after givingthe treatment, which is healt education by using simulation method. Method. This study design was quasy experiment with pre - post control group design. Samples were taken by using purposive sampling and obtained 15 respondents for each control and treatment groups. Data were collected through questionnaires. Data analysis used Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney test with significance level of 0.05. Results. This study showed that there is no significant reduction in the breast milk mothers in the motivation scores before and after treatment in the control group (p = 0.261; α = 0.05). Discussion and conclusion. Health education simulation method has no effect of the motivation of mothers in breastfeeding. Mothers are expected to have a high motivation toward breastfeeding for the baby to grow optimally.
