Abstract
This research aimed to investigate the protective effect of Moringa oleifera leaves extract on histopathological changes of kidney proximal tubules induced by methylmercury in mice (Mus musculus). Twenty five male mice were divided into five groups and administered orally with different treatments for 21 days. C– (0.2 ml Na-CMC solution), C+ (0.4 mg/kg bw methylmercury), T1, T2, and T3 (200, 400, and 600 mg/kg bw Moringa oleifera leaves extract respectively + 0.4 mg/kg bw of methylmercury). The histopathological features of kidney proximal tubules were examined by using Modified Arshad Scoring method. Then, Kruskal-Wallis test followed with Mann-Whitney test of statistical analyses showed that Moringa oleifera leaves extract could protect kidney proximal tubules exposed methylmercury in mice (Mus musculus). The best dose of Moringa oleifera in this research was 400 mg/kg bw.
