Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of purslane extract on HDL level in rats given high fat diet. Rats were randomly divided into five groups. Group K- as negative control were given CMC Na 1%, Group K+ as positive control were given high fat diet. Group P1 were given high fat diet and purslane extract dose 54 mg/rats. Group P2 were given high fat diet and puslane extract dose 108 mg/rats. Group P3 were given high fat diet and purslane extract dose 216 mg/rats. High fat diet were given during 4 weeks and then given again high fat diet and purslane extract during 4 weeks. On the 56th day of experimental, rats were anasthezied by chloroform, and than rat blood drawn through intracardiac. The sample were analyzed levels of HDL. The sample were compared and showed no significant difference. In conclusion, purslane extract can’t increase the levels of HDL in rats given high fat diet.
