Abstract

The purpose of this study was to detect Staphylococcus aureus from cow’s milk suffering from mastitis and whether that Staphylococcus aureus are sensitive to some antibiotics or not. Milk samples were taken in farm at Koperasi Agribisnis Dana Mulya Pacet, then Staphylococcus aureus were isolated and identification. Samples were inoculated on MSA media and incubated at 37 oC for 24 hours. Yellow colonies were growing on the media would be identification by many tests such each catalase test and coagulase test. And then research was continued by antibiotic sensitivity test which using amount of 3 x 106 bacteria per ml. Bacteria was spreaded on the surface of MHA media and put four kinds of antibacterial discs on it, clear zone found around the discs as indicated that bacteria were not able to grow. Antibacterial were used including Doxycycline 30 μg, Gentamicin 10 μg, Penicillin 10 units, and Erytromicin 15 μg. The result of this study were Penicillin antibiotics resistant to Staphylococcus aureus, Doxycycline, Gentamicin, and Erytromicin are still sensitive.
