Abstract

This study was conducted to compare the blood vessels histopathological of rat (Rattus norvegicus) which injected with Naja sputatrix venom and given Mimosa pudica root extract , so the potential of Mimosa pudica root extract as a treatment of venomous snake bites and antivenom serum replacement is discovered. This research used healthy rat (Rattus norvegicus) with 200 grams body weight average, divided into five experimental groups which is , negative control rats, positive control rats injected with Naja sputatrix venom LD50, and group of Mimosa pudica root extract with 250 mg/kg BW , 500 mg/kg BW , and 1000 mg/kg BW dose. Each blood vessels specimen around Gluteus maximus muscle was processed and histopathological changes were observed. Score of inflammatory cells infiltration and vasculitic blood vessels percentage were analyzed with ANOVA followed with multiple range test (Duncan). The data analysis showed the significant differences (p<0,005). The result of the study showed that Mimosa pudica root extract could reduce the inflammatory cell infiltration and vasculitic blood vessels percentage.
